PISTOL PERMIT INFORMATION

Connecticut law requires that individuals seeking a pistol permit must first attend a pistol safety course given by an NRA certified instructor. The Outpost Guns & Ammo offers this course several times a month. The cost is $150.00 dollars and includes all required literature as well as live firing at the range.

Below are all the steps required to obtain your CT Carry Permit:

Step 1

Step 2

Obtain an Application for Carry Permit from your local town hall and take completed application and certificate to local police department. Have fingerprints taken and pay fee of $50.00 and $19.25 made payable to DPS, and $70.00 made payable to your local authority. You must show proof of identity and citizenship. A thorough criminal background check will be done at the CT DPS and can take 8-10 weeks.

Step 3

Once approved, your town hall will call to notify you that your temporary permit is ready. This town permit allows you to carry within your own town limits and is valid for only 60 days.

NOTE: In order to purchase a pistol you must obtain your CT permit. Long guns can be purchased with a CT Drivers License and a14-day wait.

Step 4

A fee of $70.00 is payable to DPS when you obtain your CT permit. The two locations that follow are the closest ones in Southeastern Connecticut:
